2023 World Scout Camp (25th World Scout Jamboree in 2023)

The World Scout Jamboree is a global International Scout camp that takes place every 4 years, is attended by around 40,000 Scouts from all over the world and is an amazing international Scouting event.  In 2023, the 25th World Scout Jamboree will take place in South Korea.

The UK normally sends a contingent of around 4,000-5,000 Scouts comprising Units of 36 Explorer Scouts plus 4 leaders from each County, including Central Yorkshire.

The application process for places in the Central Yorkshire Unit is currently under way with the following key dates:

• Wednesday 22nd September – Central Yorkshire World Scout Jamboree Roadshow, 7.30pm at Collingham Scout Hut (there are also roadshows in other locations on the other days next week – see details below)
• Sunday 3rd October – closing date for applications (application form attached)

This is an amazing opportunity for Explorer Scouts born between 22 July 2005 and 31 July 2009.

I attended the 17th World Scout Jamboree as an Explorer Scout in 1991, also in South Korea, and in 2019 Lucy Taverner and Morgan Harness attended the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA and Paul Harness also attended as a member of the International Service Team and all of us would highly recommend to any Explorer Scout to consider attending the World Scout Jamboree, as it is an experience that you’ll remember and look back on fondly for the rest of your life – genuinely amazing.

The trips normally last around 3 weeks and take place at the end of July/beginning of August.

County Applications for Leaders and Young People are open, and will close on Sunday 3 October 2021. Applications can be found on our website here

Please send this invitation to your Scouts/Explorers who will have a date of birth between 22 July 2005 and 31 July 2009 (eligible age for a youth participant).

I expect the roadshows to last for an hour maximum.

In addition to the above roadshows, there will also be an online roadshow on Monday 27th September at 7.30pm. If you and/or your Scouts/Explorers are not able to attend the above dates, please register attendance here
