Active Support

Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.

Scout Active Support is a resource for managers of local Scouting including Group Scout Leaders, District Commissioners and County Commissioner, to use in whichever way is required.

It is open to ALL adults whether they hold other roles within Scouting or not.

The Scout Active Support Unit within Wetherby District meets every third Thursday of the Month, usually in Bramham Pavilion. Members of the unit help at most District events, the Activity Day where we have provided refreshments, District Camp where members have been involved in staffing activities, the Water Stations as well as the Leaders Coffee shop, car parking control and other jobs, as necessary, around the camp.

Social events are enjoyed by members and have included, visits to places of interest, which have included river a trip on the Ouse followed by a buffet supper, walks around the area and Gliding at Sutton Bank visit to the Veolia Waste Centre. Members are usually involved in the Annual Scout section Andrew Oliver incident hike and have in the past manned radios and provided the drinks and food at the finish.

We have also enjoyed talks and visits from various interesting persons.

There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting in Wetherby District.

If you would like to become a part of this thriving unit then please contact the Active Support Manager, Hazel Sibson: either by e-mail: hazel_19@hotmail.co.uk or 07837 505829.
