Call to Wetherby District Scout Groups: Help Find a Long-Term Home for Our District Minibus
Wetherby District Scouts are asking all Groups within the District for support in securing a long-term home for our shared district minibus.
As many of you know, the minibus is a key resource that benefits Groups across the District. It enables young people to access camps, activities, and events that might otherwise be difficult to reach, and helps us keep Scouting accessible and affordable for all.
However, we are currently facing an ongoing challenge in finding a secure, reliable, and long-term storage location for the vehicle.
Why This Matters to Your Group
The minibus is there for all of us. Whether it’s transporting Scouts to camp, supporting section trips, or enabling joint activities, it plays a vital role in delivering quality Scouting across Wetherby District.
Without a suitable base, we risk added costs, reduced availability, and increased logistical challenges for everyone.
What We’re Looking For
We are asking all Groups to consider whether they might be able to help identify or provide a suitable location. This could be:
- Space at a Scout HQ
- A church, school, or community partner site
- Yard or hardstanding space linked to a Group contact
- Any secure area with suitable access for a minibus
Ideally, the location would be:
- Secure and accessible
- Available on a long-term basis
- Within reasonable distance of Wetherby District Groups
How Your Group Can Help
Please take a moment to consider:
- Do you have space at your HQ or meeting place?
- Do you have a contact (parent, supporter, local business) who might be able to help?
- Are there local partnerships your Group could explore?
Even suggestions or leads would be greatly appreciated.
